Google Search Console will display missing location problems for event-rich results
This modification can result in more rich results report problems for event schema in Search Console. If an event's location is missing, the rich results report from Google Search Console may now display more warnings for event structured data markup. Google will begin enforcing geographical criteria for events, the search engine company announced in this update.
Warning. What Google posted is as follows:
Google will begin enforcing event location rules. Giving any physical locations for events that are designated as virtual only (eventAttendanceMode = OnlineEventAttendanceMode) may result in a warning. Any event that has a physical address must have an address that is of type Place and not PostalAddress in order for it to be valid. As a result, you can see more problems and warnings in the Event items on your website.
Place matters. Google is making it very obvious that it needs the location of the event from you in order to correctly display those events in the search results. If the event is virtual, the "eventAttendanceMode = OnlineEventAttendanceMode" reference can be used to specify that the event location is online. If it's a physical event, you should include the address.
Event rich results definition. When Google Search utilizes the structured data on your event pages, it produces event rich results, which display richer search result snippets. According to Google, this can deliver a more interactive result by displaying your logo and the event's description, as well as more chances of discovery and conversion by raising click through rates.
These outcomes could appear as follows:
Why we care If your pages employ event schema, you might soon see an increase in the warnings that the rich results report in Google Search Console presents. All you have to do is update your schema to include location information and check Search Console for errors.
